Name: Tavian (Tavi)
Country: Megam
Combat Class: Healer
Age: 30
Birthday: December 13th [Saggitarius]
Blood Type: O
Family:Mother [deceased], Father [deceased], Sisters // Nicolette, Daphne
Languages: Trade [S], Megami [A], Romani [S]
HISTORY
Tavi remembers his parents as revolutionaries.
They weren't; not really, but his memories of them -- and his mother, especially -- are incontrovertibly wrapped up with their pride, their high standing in their middling outcast community, and the defiant refusal to hide the gifts of their heritage that ultimate resulted in their deaths. Their murders, in fact, by the Megami people in the town of Evendim who were offended and perhaps a little frightened by the very real and very supernatural talents that Tavian's parents so proudly displayed. His parents gave the Roma community too much to be proud of, too much to rally around, and so they were viciously beaten to death in the streets of the town, in a quick and bloody flash mob that no one was ever punished for, and no Megami ever officially admitted had even happened.
Tavi was ten when they died, with two younger sisters; Nicolette, still a child too young to truly understand the enormity of what had happened, and Daphne, still an infant who would never even know her parents' faces.
Though they were orphaned, they were not abandoned; their fellow Roma adopted them and cared for them communally, particularly when it became clear that Tavi had inherited his mother's gift for the alchemical arts, and the legacy of his family hadn't died with his parents, after all. Tavi grew into a bitter and somewhat entitled young man, angry and unforgiving of their Megami oppressors and self-important and bossy with his fellow Roma, thanks to his talents and the legacy he believed he was the sole inheritor of, especially when Nicolette showed absolutely no signs of talent for anything but mundane, petty thievery (despite all of Tavi's efforts to suppress it.)
Then Daphne began to have visions.
It started slowly, erratic and strange, and initially the Roma shook their heads and and sighed to themselves, thinking that Tavian must have told poor little Daphne some stories of her family's long and celebrated history of producing true mediums. But eventually, her predictions all came true; and what's more, they became more frequent. And it didn't stop at foretellings. Daphne showcased early signs of all sorts of revered mystic talents -- not the least of which proved to be acting as Speaker for the Dead. And even as people slowly began to hope and believe in his youngest sister's talent, the Megami alongside them in Evendim began to take notice, as well.
Daphne became the star of the community, and Tavian found that he had to set most of his projects and ambition aside -- the alchemy, the plots for revenge -- and set about supporting her, as was expected. His control over Nicolette slipped further and further as she involved herself with swindlers and rogues and learned all sorts of unsavory skills, and his influence over Daphne was never as strong as he would have liked -- she had been just a baby when their parents died, and she just never understood what she had never known.
No longer anyone's darling or focus, Tavian lives a life filled with bitter, angry thoughts and fantasies of what might have been -- and what still could be, if his sisters and his community would just share his anger, share his ambition, and let him lead them to giving the Megami of Evendim exactly what they deserve.
PERSONALITY
Tavian has a hard, unyielding view of the world and lives in a constant state of stymied anger, varying only in its intensity from day to day. He's conceited and bossy and quite seriously thinks he knows precisely what's best for everyone, and is incredibly put out when his advice (or orders) go unheeded. He deeply loathes the Megami natives and is somewhat obsessed with revenge fantasies. He's stubborn and argumentative and passionate with both his loves and his hates.
He's also still, despite everything, a well respected member of the Roma community in Evendim, though many fear he's going to get himself -- or worse, Daphne -- killed with his defiance. He was incredibly close with his mother, especially, who gave him his start in alchemy, and he has developed a very real and uncanny talent with the art with little official instruction save for the notes his mother left him and the lessons she imparted before her martyr's death. He's very, very proud of this and very serious about his work.
APPEARANCE
Tavian takes very strongly after his mother. He has a feminine look to him, and sports a thin build comprised mainly of hard angles. He has dark hair and piercing grey-blue eyes, and the Megami of Evendim unlucky enough to meet his stares often find themselves shivering and thanking the Dragons that looks alone can't kill.
